The location of Rueifang Fishermen Association is at Shen-ao Fishing Harbor, which is famous for recreational fishing around Taiwan, the harbor is also has most oceangoing fishing boats in Taiwan. The harbor is surrounded by rocky cliff beach, which is a very good place for rocky cliff fishing field. The Shen-ao Harbor Gulf is wide and open, got two mountains at sides, with such nice environment, it is such a natural harbor and its not far from the main fishing field Keelung Island sea area or Vase Island, Penchia Island and Diayutai Group Islands. Now, Shen-ao Fishing Harbor although still has traditional fishery activities, but most boats owners of managing ocean fishing business are now gradually found their own style within this slowly feeble fishing industry at Taiwan.
Find a fine weather holiday, come to Shen-ao Fishing Harbor and walk alone the harbor, appreciate all kinds of fishing boats; if any tourists who feels like want to go out to fishing, they can rant a fishing boat to go out to the ocean for fishing or for sightseeing the North coastline. If you tired of walking, come to A-Hua shark soup shop have a delicious shark soup and a swordfish stomach, which gives you a taste of freshest seafood, but also at same time you can appreciate varieties of wooden sculptures that are hand made by the shop owner.
Other than the famous ocean fishing, Shen-ao Fishing Harbor has its own specialties. The common name of Shen-ao Fishing Harbor is Fan-a-o (in Taiwanese, which means aborigine or barbarian), and the reason for that name is because the say of in the early period, the place was the village of Pin-pu tribe; the other say was because at the side of the harbor, there is a mountain with special shape looks like a aborigine’s side face. But if you think that is the specialty of the Shen-ao Fishing Harbor view, then you are wrong.
Along the side of the harbor, follow the fisher’s foot step, through a foot path that only allows one person walk through at a time at the side of armor units, then you will suddenly see a wide open view just in front of your eyes. The sea and the mountains are combined into one that you cannot even define the horizontal line; climbing up alone the mountain road, when arrive to the Angle line, the view that in front of you will make you surprise, because the sea just looks like a large blue diamond, from up here, you can see the beautiful true color of the sea, which is blue and shining that will amaze you. On the tope of the cliff, there is a cave that eroded by sea, it is similar compare with the Stone-Door Cave at north coastline but this cave is located at higher position and looks more imposing. Other then the cave, there are also can see special scenes such as the fungus shape rocks, hive rocks, which more imposing sight than Badotze, but also not bad then Yehliu. Because here is not a famous tourism site, other than fisher there are not many tourists, so it can keep its own quietness and natural beauty.
Back to the fishery village, follow the streets we come to beach again, with this beautiful sea views, all the depression that developed in the city for long time are now gone, and it gives us good mood.
If you are not driving, you can take the coastline bus heading to Luodung from the Taichi North Station at Taipei City. Or take Keelung shuttle that is heading to Rueifang (coastline shuttle) or Fulung from Keelung train station, and then get of the shuttle bus at Shen-ao electrical station and keep walking after across the road then you will arrive there.
