August and September is the season for marketing shrimp in China. Aboundance of shrimp supply has resulted in lower prices of shrimp sold in Beijing market. P. ensis witnessed a 50% down in price compared with last year from 75yuan down to 45yuan per kilo. While P. Vannimei lowered down from 30yuan in 2002 to 20 yuan per kilo this year. As the national holidy is coming, it is envisaged that shrimp consumption will go up and prices will foresee a little bit increase.
