 Keelung fisherman association is establish at year 1907, during the period of Japan occupies Taiwan, through various reform in the pass, the name of Keelung is formally changed at year 1976. After Taiwan Provincial fisheries Administration has carried out some project, makes Keelung fisherman association able to fully utilized. During 1991 and 1992 the office has been reconstructed and new facility added, which improves the working environment and help the association construct a firm base to be able to work its best.
Now the Chenpin, Bisha, Patoutzu, Chuangtanli, Wanghaihsiang, Waimushan and Tawulun fishing harbor are the seven harbors that belong to Keelung fisherman association. The total sea surface of above seven harbors is six hundred eighty thousand square meters, which has the capacity for 2400 boats for 20 tones each.
Keelung fishing association has a remarkable history, but also experienced down time. Since year 2002, Taiwan is formally become a member of WTO association, but serious bad impacts on fish product are accompanies with it. In order to be able to adapt in this new reformation, the fishing industry much reform with it, therefore, we working towards recreation and tourism fishing industry, and not only to keeping booming of direct marketing center of Bisha, but also hoping the ecology of short-sea fish market can be recovered to continue the existing fishing industry. Hope these efforts can introduce better future for Keelung fisherman association.
